SZEMO and Uralmash signed the roadmap for the development and certification of an electric motors series
North-Western Electromechanical Corporation (SZEMO) Holding (including the St. Petersburg production association Elektromashina and Rem&Coil) and Uralmash Oil and Gas Equipment signed the roadmap for the development and certification of an electric motors series for Uralmash Oil and Gas Equipment LLC.
Prior to signing this agreement, Uralmash Oil and Gas Equipment LLC, the largest domestic manufacturer of systems for development and deep-well exploratory drilling, used international engines and engines assembled in the Russian Federation during the construction of drilling rigs, but using international components. The delivery of systems of such capacity to Russia from the USA and Europe became impossible since February 2023.
Now NPO Elektromashina is the only Russian company ready to organize a full manufacturing cycle of such electric motors made of 100% domestically produced components and materials. And the Rem&Coil plant will supply sections for this project made at their own facilities and modernize the line for this task.
At the same time, the existing best practices allow St. Petersburg engineers to produce units that are not only completely import-independent, but also have better technical characteristics, including a long period of trouble-free operation. The engines made by Elektromashina production association are explosion-proof and comply with all environmental standards.
To implement this project, an engineering center was created based on the enterprise located in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg, employing dozens of highly qualified designers and technologists who will create all the necessary design documents from scratch, prepare six experienced working prototypes, test them and test engines in real settings at the customer's facilities, including the Far North conditions.
Production of the first fully operable product sample was scheduled for April 2023. Due to proven track record, the engineering competency center of Electromashina and Rem&Coil can implement any size projects in the future.
